Tuesday nights in October & NovemberThe Way to Inner Peace & Contentment A New Course ~ A Series of Teachings by Sogyal Rinpoche from the Rigpa Three Year Retreat
Tuesdays, beginning October 17 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm* *Please contact us if you’d like to attend this course, but are unable to make it on Tuesday evenings. We can plan to make this course available on a series of Saturdays. Just let us know. This course is based on the structure of Sogyal Rinpoche’s recent public talks and follows the crucial points found in his recent body of teachings, entitled The Treasury of Dharma, but is more experiential in it’s approach. From the Introduction of the course: Regardless of who we are, the main purpose of our life—you could call it the heart of being human—is to be happy. If we look closely, we can see that there are two kinds of happiness. One is based more on physical comfort; the other is founded on a deeper, mental contentment. If we have this deeper, inner peace and contentment, then, even when we go through physical suffering, our minds can still be happy. This explains how there are some people who can have every material advantage and yet remain dissatisfied and discontent, while there are others who are always satisfied and content, even amidst the most difficult of circumstances. If we apply them to ourselves, we could well discover that Buddhist practices, such as meditation; Buddhist wisdom, such as the view of interdependence; and Buddhist ethics, such as altruism, can revolutionize the way we work and act in the world. Then, even though life may be complex on the outside, we will possess an inner simplicity and carefree dignity. This will enable us to meet difficulties, crises, and troubles with a deeper acceptance and insight. Our understanding will also help you transform and overcome problems, and lead you to the inner peace, stability of mind and contentment that we need to face the challenges of the world today. ** The teachings are always available to those facing financial challenges. Please let us know. Suggested donation is for non-Rigpa members. If you would like to attend or have any questions, please contact: Paul Norden - pnorden@sbcglobal.net Best wishes and hope to see you soon! |
